I got my summons for jury duty. Yesterday, I reported to the courthouse to begin my service. I found out that you can no longer enter just through any door but you have to walk around to the front of the courthouse and to go through security.
I brought my knitting and a book to read. I figure that if they wouldn't let me through with my knitting bag that I would just return it back to the car. No trip back to the car was needed. I proceded to the basement to check in. I checked in and then the waiting began. We had to watch a 20 minute video about the court system and yada yada yada. There were three cases on the docket. I took out my knitting and of course got a lot of questions especially fromt he gentlemen sitting next to me. First, comment he asked if I was knitting an afghan. I informed him that I would be knitting forever if I was. Then he asked, if I would make him a sweater. I told him that would take forever also. Then he finally asked what I was knitting. I said socks and then there were no more comments.
Two cases got settled and the third one was still in negotiations. They decided to keep 35 of us just in case and of course my name was picked out of the 35. By the time 11 came, they decided to let us go home for the day, told us to call in to see if we would be needed tomorrow (which was today). When I called in, my number had not been selected. I still need to call in to see if I am needed for tomorrow.
The dead computer? Well yeah, my work laptop bit the big one on Sunday night. I had support so I was trying to help out a co-worker by getting a jump start on the tie-outs. Just when I was starting, the computer went completely black. I could not boot up the computer nor was the computer charging. So, today they took my laptop away. They are trying to determine if it is worth fixing or if I am going to get a new one. I have all ready gotten the go ahead to get a new laptop but of course they are trying to save money. So I was told it is going to be a day or two before I know the status of my computer.
My Pomatomus socks are on hiatus at the moment. I ran out of yarn over the weekend. I knew that I should have picked up another skein when I was at Loopy Central the weekend before. I ran out while I was working on the toe. So I placed the order for more yarn, patterns and needles. What can I say, I wanted to get to $75 so I didn't have to pay for shipping. I did order some Sweet Paprika that I had in my hands at Loopy but put back. The more that I saw Sarah's socks the more I knew that I wanted the yarn. It's more of a semi-solid color. I do need to quit ordering so much variegated and start ordering the semi-solid. Anyways, once I get my order I'll be able to finish my socks and get some pictures posted.
The night before jury duty I made sure to cast-on for my next pair of socks. I decided on Wendy Johnson's Snapdragon pattern. I am using 2 circulars instead of double point needles. I only had size 2's so that is what I casted on and took with me for jury duty. I had no issues with the cast-on. I remembered what Wendy had taught me at Spring Fling (thanks Wendy). I used Judy's Magic Cast-on. I had finished a couple of pattern repeats tried the sock on at home and realized that it was going to be too big. What can I say, I didn't want to wait for my size 0's to arrive from Loopy. So yesterday, I ran to my LYS and purchased two 24" size 0 Addis. I've had to frog a few times just from messing up the pattern but overall they are going very well. I am using Dye Dreams Comfy Sox in the Cranberry colorway. Shhh it's a secret! These are going to become my Loopy 4 Swap pal's socks.
Last night, I got an invite from my son to go bowling with my brother, his significant other and my nephew and him. So hubby and my daughter and I went bowling. I had a lot of fun until these college girls got on the lane next to us. I enjoy bowling very much but they had thrown my timing off. They had no bowling ettiquette whatsoever. One of the girls would be set up to bowl and be throwing the ball down the lane before the rack was even up from resetting the pins. Another one would just grab her ball and start walking down the lane to throw the ball whether there was anyone in the next lane or not. My daughter showed me flier for a youth and adult league. So I signed us up.
I just got good news today. My son's unemployment finally got approved. Now, I won't have to pay for his insurance every month. Too bad, he didn't find out yesterday. I had all ready paid his insurance for the month. I told him that he didn't have to pay me back but take me out for dinner instead.
